For my latest efforts, check out my new official site at FuzzySkeletonian.com!Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.comBlogger234125truetag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-60695496176766484942012-09-10T04:37:00.000-05:002013-11-10T05:30:57.822-06:00A reminder about my new site

Just thought I'd chime in one more time over here and mention that the dust has settled over at FuzzySkeletonian.com, my new official blog/site!

I know for a while there things were up and down and not working quite right but a reasonable amount of stability has finally been achieved and the good news is you can get updates via your Blogger dashboard. All you have to do is add my new site to your reading list. I don't know how to do it with the new fucked-up Blogger interface but if you switch back to the old interface (while you still can) you can manually add my site to your reading list from your Dashboard using the "ADD" button right next to the "MANAGE" button at the bottom of your blog list. Just use: http://fuzzyskeletonian.com/ for the URL and you should get thumbnails and snippets from my new posts just as you would from any Blogger blog. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Anyhow, just thought I'd pass along this information to any interested parties who might have been missing my new blog in their Dashboard/RSS reader/feed. Take it easy, you crazy kids!Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-78690712911631123772012-05-24T03:13:00.000-05:002012-05-24T03:13:48.242-05:00A new home
It's official! I've found a new home for my art-stuffs and a permanent residence for my Fuzzy Skeletonians. In short, I've got my own ding-dang domain, bitches! I have paid for and registered FuzzySkeletonian.com and it feels good : D All I've done so far is set up a Wordpress.org blog so I can get back to bidness with my arts. That's what's most important to me right now but, hey, it's a whole freakin' website so who knows what the future holds!

As for this blog, I plan to leave it up as a static archive for as long as Blogger will have me. Anyway, head on over to the new site and leave me a house-warming comment or two!

Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-91581430175211916452012-05-11T05:21:00.000-05:002012-05-11T05:21:33.232-05:00is it dry yet and an apology First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the kind comments, emails and all-around supportive advice. You guys rule : ) Second, I'd like to offer a bit of an apology for freaking out a little. It was late, I was trying to relax a bit and post some freakin' art and then I get the "oh noes, boobies and penises are bad!" thing from Picasa and it just pissed me off.

Aaaanyway, here's what I was trying to post the other night (didn't have to accept the terms of "service" this time for some reason)::

As you can tell, I was working rather wet and laying the paint on thick and messy. I thought to myself when I was done that this would take a while to dry so I let it sit for days but its wet appearance never really went away:

...and I'm still thinking, "Is it dry yet?" and that there's moisture trapped under there. Like if I just carefully used an xacto knife or a razor blade wet paint would start running out! I guess this is just the nature of acrylic when you really glob it on.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and advice. I'll be looking into all the possibilities. Who knows? Maybe I'll find a much better place to call home than Blogger.
Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-10122642741530717422012-05-08T05:39:00.000-05:002012-05-08T05:39:40.421-05:00FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Well, since the fine, open-minded people at Picasa Web Albums no longer allow pornography or obscenity (you know, the basic CORE of my fucking fucking artwork!?!) AND since Google owns both Blogger and Picasa I"m just going to assume this here blog's days are numbered.

I'm not going to voluntarily shut my blog down (I'll leave that to the jerks at Google & Friends) but I am going to start looking for another place to display my artwork. SO... if I'm not posting here anymore, I hope you'll understand. If you want to get a hold of me I still check the email address in my profile.

I knew this whole free blogging thing was too good to be true. I'll post here when I find a new home for my art stuffs. If deletion of this blog happens swiftly, my non-Google email is: edco [at] xmission [dot] com if you want to be kept abreast of updates.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-82860768535193955942012-04-30T22:48:00.000-05:002012-04-30T23:07:48.868-05:00blood flood and a commission
(ADULT CONTENT BELOW)

This is the flip side of this guy and you might even say it could be the remains of one of his victims. Not sure, really. I just know there's a lot of violence to be had in my artwork. To be honest, my first thought about this bloody mess was that it was the remains of somebody who'd been eaten by some great beast or monster and this is what it spat out when it was done. You can't eat the bones but they sure do add flavor, don't they?

In other news, I've received a request for a commission and I've decided to go through with it to see how it feels. Wish me luck!Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-59999186634708184352012-04-16T20:33:00.005-05:002012-04-17T02:10:17.252-05:00new banner I've been meaning to do this for a while but I've been busy with getting distracted lately (you know how that goes).

I've been concentrating on relaxing lately. Getting back to my old habits of tuning out, wasting time and just resting. Before this blog, before getting back into my art. Just a nihilistic defeatism without hope, without dreams, without pain (or as close as I could get to it). I would often play the game of thinking about being homeless. Wondering what it would be like to not have a job, not have bills to pay, not have any "social responsibilities" or whatever you call them. Just existing as a non-entity, a virtual zombie as it were.

As a teenager, during my first of two senior years in high school I would often skip school to go down to the local creek and lay out on this big flat rock in the middle of the stream and just close my eyes and listen to the water flowing around me. I miss that rock, that sound, that simplicity. The freedom to just let everything fall apart. Nowadays, I still hear water but I'm in a row boat with a slow leak. If I stop rowing, if I stop bailing things get out of hand pretty quickly. I still have the impulse to just chuck it all though.

Perhaps that's what this abstract monster of blood geysers is all about. Just a little wish fulfillment or a graphic imagining of the violence and destruction that would result in my life if I just gave the fuck up.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-79410473996394039092012-04-05T05:00:00.000-05:002012-04-05T05:00:05.468-05:00bloody teeth and Neil Diamond

Been wanting to post this guy ever since I finished him but I can get REALLY distracted and lazy sometimes. Anyway, here he is for your viewing pleasure. As I recall, this was one from a batch of red eye pieces I cranked out while still buzzed from wine with dinner and jamming out to some old Neil Diamond (the really good shit: Hot August Night, BBC Top of the Pops and Gold). Man, what a crazy epic night that was. I was so full of energy and just plain fearless! Paint was flyin' and guys like this were appearing before me. Sigh. I miss those days...

Feh, I guess you can't always be inspired and happy in your work. Gotta have some malaise to make you appreciate the good times I guess.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-80583392639229419662012-03-29T04:48:00.001-05:002012-03-29T05:08:53.263-05:00chaotic mess and artistic funk

I came across this and paused, then I looked a little harder. I'm guessing this chaotic mess reflects my emotional state of late. Anger, frustration, artistic funk, lack of motivation. 'Course, part of this is due to work starting to crank up the overtime again but I won't bore you with the details. I would, however, like to apologize for not making my normal blogging rounds lately.

Although I'm identifying more with this in the present I think this was actually completed back in October or thereabouts. This shares a sandwich background with emergence and is the flip side of paleBleak just to give you a bit of creation trivia. Sometimes you just have to leave well enough alone and that's exactly what I did with this one. This was one of my random wet sandwich backgrounds I made in a batch with a few others. With most of my backgrounds there's some sort of suggestion of a face but this one had the face fully formed already so I decided to not touch it at all. I love happy accidents like this!Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-53226715476163636592012-02-22T02:38:00.000-06:002012-02-22T02:38:28.891-06:00a time to ponder

(you cleeka nao)

After a full day of murder by dismemberment even the strongest of Fuzzy Skeletonians needs a few minutes to lounge and relax and reflect fondly on the bloody gurgling screams of his victims. After all, if you don't take time to ponder and explore what you do then how can you hope to improve? Figured it was about time to post another one of my fuzzy minions. His head still seems to be in the process of attaching itself, as the cloud of fuzzy connective tissue begins to coalesce. I have the impulse to grab this guy by his soft-looking esophagus-spine and just shake the shit out of him, never giving his head the chance to fully connect. Would be interesting to see what happens. What might be the fate of someone who interrupts the creation of a Fuzzy Skeletonian?Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-68723309708954635602012-02-06T03:39:00.000-06:002012-02-06T03:39:06.692-06:00puke face
(ADULT CONTENT BELOW)
This started with a basic monochrome print from an image of my own face. I then proceeded with the marker and paints and ended up with something I wasn't satisfied with at all. I then swallowed a bunch of grey paint, gagged myself and threw up all over it. Well, that's what I felt like doing anyway. Not sure if the final application of grey slurry enhanced this or just underscored my strong dislike of working from a prefabricated image base.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-2789292581787947362012-01-30T04:05:00.000-06:002012-01-30T04:05:31.957-06:00insane brother twins

Thought I'd have myself a Monday-Palooza-Ganza and post two images at once! Aw yeah! This crazy train is flyin' right off the fuckin' rails, man!! I'm outta control!!!

Seriously though, this is vaguely special in the regard that you wouldn't normally see these two images side by side, as they are each painted on the opposite side of the same piece of watercolor paper. However, through the magic of technology, here they are; a couple of dirty, bloody, twisted brother skulls in a kind of metaphysical emotional turmoil and insanity. They share the same plane of existence, the same space, no doubt some of the same pigments, yet they've never seen each other face to face. A pair of conjoined twins who are strangers to each other.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-48973065993542420792012-01-23T04:40:00.001-06:002012-01-23T04:42:30.880-06:00old school neck leak
(ADULT CONTENT BELOW)
Here's some recent sketchbook work. This has a decidedly old school, Sharpie craze feel to it. Not strictly Sharpie craze but pretty damned close. When I started on it I had dickhead on the brain and tried to model the torso in a similar fashion, attempting to recreate the look of the muscle fiber type stuff in the abdomen. Not sure what the bloody, volcano-backed, chicken neck thing intruding into the scene is supposed to be but that strange appendage sure adds some spunky character to this mad view!Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-14980748089337585342012-01-15T21:56:00.001-06:002012-01-16T05:09:23.617-06:00allies amidst the bleakness

The background on this one turned out much more pale and bleak than most of my other Red Eye paintings. Bleakness seems to be in the air lately. It's almost as if everyone unconsciously believes the world will end this year. I hope it does. Humanity could use a big death and rebirth right about now. A casting away of old habits, a blowing off of steam and a time to relax and get reacquainted with our true selves. Just one big time-out to rest and reflect.

Anyway, musings on humanity aside, the more I look at this painting the more I think it's a self-portrait. I identify and sympathize with this guy's general state of emotion. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I'm right there with him. I'm his comrade and ally.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-39219933608645560082012-01-10T03:50:00.000-06:002012-01-10T03:50:37.190-06:00crawling skitter nom

(clicky)

Here's my latest dry erase effort. He seems to be crawling across the floor like a cheap special effect. He's all like, "skitter skitter skitter nom nom nom" until the the batteries in the remote control car underneath him run out of juice.
Meh, kinda in a low key mood tonight. Looking forward to having the next two weekends off. A little rest and normality is a good thing. Take it easy peeps, you guys rule.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-30250239421632517112012-01-03T02:35:00.003-06:002012-01-03T02:38:15.117-06:00feathery anger

This guy really stopped me today when I was trying to figure out what I was going to post next. His eyes ended up being pretty dramatic. That combined with the overall fuzzy/feathery look seemed like a bit of a departure from what I normally end up creating with a black marker. In fact, this almost crossed the line from fuzzy to feathery skeletonian. I think that was mainly due to the fact I was using my india ink brush pens. They have much less friction with the paper than a Sharpie and I end up with softer lines.
In other news, I found myself getting into a shouting match with a co-worker last week. I won't bore you with the details but I guess I should have seen something like this coming. The source material for my new header image was created before the incident and should've served as a warning to me to watch my temper but I figured it was all a part of my artistic expression of late and I thought nothing of it. What a way to start the year : P Oh well, live and learn I guess.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-33497447659580138882011-12-26T06:25:00.000-06:002011-12-26T06:33:21.415-06:00emergence

This is actually the flip side of stalactite rain. I've often been using both sides of my paper lately to make the most of my materials and maximizing opportunities to practice technique. Anyway, this guy seems to be emerging from some sort of bloody or fiery vortex. The original is noticeably darker and bloodier, it makes me wonder where I'm going with my artwork. Do I want to do it for art's sake? Do I want to do it for myself only? Do I want to make money at this? It's quite an issue to wrestle with. Hopefully, I'll emerge from this murk with some clarity soon.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-23414590296657611062011-12-18T04:33:00.002-06:002011-12-26T05:08:02.234-06:00stalactite rain
(ADULT CONTENT BELOW)
Here's another shadow of the previously mentioned cave skellie idea. This image also spawned a further development in the story:

He's spotted me and now his confusion seems lessened by having someone to focus on. His erection wanes a little and now starts to drip blood as he advances directly towards me. I continue to retreat, weaving in and out of the stalactites, stalagmites and columns, attempting to outmaneuver him. His arms are outstretched wide as he continues pursuit, there's no way around. Behind him I can see daylight diminishing as he forces me deeper and deeper into the cave.

I'm even more curious now to see where this will all lead. I'll keep you posted as best I can.Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568431696118747216.post-14080506882522705602011-12-13T05:15:00.000-06:002011-12-13T05:15:09.792-06:00faces in the background

This is one of the reasons I love creating random backgrounds first. Sometimes the faces just appear out of nowhere. All I did was follow the red spots with the black and it all came into focus. Fun stuff : )Eddiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00765694914848450608noreply@blogger.com5
